The following method of citing Nunavut legislation has been set out in Nunavut legislation, therefore for the sake of consistency, it is our recommendation that when you cite Nunavut legislation you follow the examples below rather than the style advocated by the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation (McGill Guide).

1.  For NWT Statutes that were duplicated for Nunavut on April 1, 1999 according to s. 29 of the Nunavut Act, S.C. 1993, c. 28.

Jury Act, R.S.N.W.T. 1988, c.J-2 (Nunavut)

2. For NWT Statutes that were specifically enacted for Nunavut by the NWT prior to April 1, 1999, that were to apply only in Nunavut after March 31, 1999:

Justices of the Peace Act, S.N.W.T. 1998, c.34, s.2 (Nunavut),

3. For Nunavut Statutes enacted by Nunavut after April 1, 1999:

     Flag of Nunavut Act, S.Nu. 1999, c.1.
