It is very important that you are on time for court. We recommend you arrive early and be prepared to wait until your name is called.

If in Iqaluit, the court is located in the Nunavut Justice Centre (Building #510), just up the street from Four Corners.

  • The centre operates: Monday through Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm
  • The Court Registry is open for filing: Monday through Friday, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

There are also court proceedings in Nunavut’s communities through the Circuit Court. The court travels to 25 out of 27 communities across the territories. The smaller communities that don’t have an RCMP detachment are not visited, as there are very few crimes reported.

The Court can visit a community as frequently as every six weeks, but visits usually happen less often.

If you are late or need to leave the court, let the Sheriff in the courtroom know. If there is no sheriff, let the court clerk know.
