Wearing clean, tidy clothing shows respect in court. Choose simple clothing with no graphics or offensive images. Sunglasses, hoodies and hats are not allowed. Headwear for religious reasons is okay.

“Business casual” is a good guideline. This can look like dress pants and a dress shirt, with a tie or jacket being optional. For women, dress pants or a skirt, a blouse and a jacket are recommended. Inuit traditional clothing is welcome, and even encouraged, in place of business casual.

If these options are not available to you, speak with your lawyer about a suitable alternative that maintains a clean and tidy appearance.
